Multitasking Saat Attachment

Multitasking itu tanda efisien. Ingat peribahasa. Sambil menyelam minum air. Sekali dayung dua tiga pulau terlampaui. Killing two birds with one stone. Hampir seluruh pekerjaan yang kita lakukan sehari hari kita kerjakan dengan multitasking. Misal, nunggu cucian sambil baca koran sambil ngemil sambil nonton TV. Begitu pula nonton dorama sambil makan sambil YM-an sambil ngobrol sama teman sambil bales SMS. Dan karna saya harus menempuh waktu 4 jam untuk bolak balik NTU-Changi tiap harinya, terkadang tidur dikerjakan dengan waktu yang sangat kurang. Saya telah berusaha untuk tetap memenuhi waktu tidur yang cukup tiap hari. Tapi kalo sudah keasikan refreshing di malam hari (chatting, mengunjungi teman, bersosialisasi, nonton, karaokean) lalu tidur pukul 2, mana cukup tidur minimal 6 jam sehari kalo jam 5.30 pagi sudah harus bangun lagi? Tidak ada pilihan lain. Tidur harus dimultitask juga. Beberapa macam possible multitasking combination yang melibatkan tidur:

1. Mandi sambil tidur 10-15 menit

2. Naik bus sambil tidur 1 jam (NTU-BoonLay, Tanah Merah-kantor)

3. Naik MRT sambil tidur 1 jam (BoonLay-Tanah Merah)

4. Kerja sambil tidur belum terdefinisi

Dari keempat kombinasi di atas, nomer 4 yang paling jagoan. Gile bok. Kerja aja bisa sambil tidur. Gimana nggak hebat. Cuman hasilnya juga “hebat”. Ini kisah nyata. Tidak dibuat2. Di bawah ini adalah contoh typo yang sangat tidak masuk akal:

Desperate menunggu gaji

Nggak terasa udah minggu keenam saya kerja di perusahaan ini. Oya, saya belom pernah cerita? Saya sekarang internship di PT SIAnakbaik (Kalo dibandingkan PTenyet, PT ini benar2 baik. Cerita tentang Ptenyet bakal menyusul segera!). Dua minggu yang lalu sekretaris menejer menghampiri meja saya dan nanyain alamat. Ternyata beliau mau kirim cek buat gaji pertama! Yay! Siapa yang nggak seneng coba gajian buat yang pertama kali. Tapi dasar lemot, saya baru sadar minggu sesudahnya, waktu sekretaris nanyain cek udah sampe atau belum. Jeder. Tentu saja. Secara prosedural yang-sangat-tidak-efisien-tapi-harus-dilakukan-demi-alasan-keamanan, cek nggak mungkin dimasukkan begitu saja ke kotak pos, which means cek itu bakal mendarat di tangan ibu2 hol ofis yang galaknya minta ampun. Parahnya, office hour hol ofis cuman weekdays, dari jam 8.30-17.00 (CMIIW). Padahal saya juga kerja weekdays, dari jam 6.20-20.00 (inclusive commuting time). Itu berarti saya baru bisa ngambil gaji setelah 10 minggu kerja, ketika weekdays sudah tidak bekerja. Rapelan bok. Sebenernya bisa sih diurus, dinego gimana gitu kek ke ibu2 hol opis. Sayangnya, niat baik saya untuk bernego kandas, karena ternyata cek justru malah belum sampai sama sekali!

Bapak ibu atasan, plis dong ah. Saya ini cuman pegawai kecil, keciiiiiil sekali. Jam kerja bole sama tapi gaji cuman seperempat pegawai biasa. Masa gaji sekecil itu masih mau ditunda tunda. Bayarlah upah pekerjamu sebelum keringatnya kering. Walau kalo nggak keringetan berarti bisa ngirit Rexona, tapi makan mau pake uang dari mana. Sungguh merana.

Random Thought: China and Nationalism

The thought first came to my mind as I read National Geographic magazine exclusively covering the issue of China’s development seen from the economic perspective as well as social change. It is widely known that “the Dragon’s” vast economic change has constantly stunned the world, not to mention causing environmental worry when it started to consume the amount of what US did within 20 years, in only a decade. Despite of the dynamic mentality of the people who started to be more open towards globalism, they still hold a strong value and memory of the past. This trait is even more strongly possessed by those who live in rural areas.

China was invaded by Japan in 1932, which set up a puppet regime in Manchuria. Japan even conquered larger areas within the country before it was defeated by the Allies in 1945. This past record still angers the Chinese until this very moment. One of National Geographic article covered this fact and pictured how much Chinese hate Japan. The writer who wrote the article once taught English in Guangzhou(?). Once he assigned his students an essay task entitled “Who do you hate?”. Surprisingly, quite a number of students wrote how much they hate Japanese for their invasion in the past; although some also said that they hate Americans for always being “kaipoh” of other country’s business.

I then started to think, and perhaps comparing, do we, Indonesians, possess the same traits? Parallelly, assuming that we do have the same pattern as Chinese, we should have hated the Netherland as much as how Chinese hate Japan. Or maybe it is wrong. We should have hated the Netherlands 26.92 times more than Chinese hate Japan because the Netherlands occupied us for 350 years. But do we? I am not saying that it is right about this hate-or-not thingie, but it is good to ponder: how much do we love our country. Occupation indeed still continues. Not in the form of invasion of government, but economically saying, how many companies are there digging up our soil and and extracting everything inside with so many cost for us to bear and so much profit for them to take, not to mention the cost imposed to our highly-polluted environment. Singapore, with its Temasek case; Exxon with its giant oil drilling machine sucking our oil wells, and who else can you mention?

You know what I’m thinking right now? I am/will be a puppet, human slave working for one of our invaders. Do I have a choice? Yes. Living in my beloved corrupt countries with expensive, no-loan tuition fees, much fewer jobs available and less money earned. But with tuition grant and much higher pay that I won’t get back in Indo, an effort to ease the family burden, and the promise of better financial security; do I still have a choice?

Baru Pindahan

Seperti judulnya, saya baru pindah ke wordpress. Alasan mengapa? Blog saya yang blogspot sampah banget isinya. Udah nggak jelas lagi. Lagipula memang sudha sangat bosan dengan tampilan blogspot yang sangat monoton dan limited.

Alasan lain? PA
Buat temen2 yang kurang terbiasa dengan istilah ini, PA itu professional attachment alias magang, kerja praktek, internship, kerja rodi bayaran kuli, dan sebagainya.

Mengapa tiba2 pindah?
The urge just came. I dunno. Cuman akhir2 ini sedang banyak pikiran yang melintas di benak saya dan lalu saya berpikir, What a waste if I dun write them. At least I can produce something out of my thought. Kali aja berguna juga buat orang lain.
Selain itu barusan mampir dari blog teman2 SMA. Tiba2 jiwa ini rejuvenated. Penuh dengan semangat baru. Penuh dengan hasrat rindu ingin berkumpul lagi. Mungkin blog ini bisa menyalurkan kerinduan yang tidak tersampaikan. At least liburan ini saja karena saya nggak balik indo
Kenapa? Mau cari duit bung. Attachment masih sampai 18 juli. Habis itu mau part time2 buat biaya nikah. hahahhaha. Gotcha! Siapa juga yang mau nikah cepet2. Nilai masih amburadul. Tabungan belum ada. Saya masih dudul secara keseluruhan. Masih banyak hal yang ingin saya capai.

Anyways, sebenernya post ini cuman kasih info pindahan, kok jadi ngerambah kemana mana hahhaha.
